Fewer homeowners facing default / Foreclosures down 12 percent, as high prices bail out troubled borrowers -- Kelly Zito, San Francisco Chronicle

Fewer homeowners facing default / Foreclosures down 12 percent, as high prices bail out troubled borrowers: "Fewer Bay Area properties fell into foreclosure in the second quarter, as price appreciation helped financially strapped homeowners stay out of trouble.

A total of 2,123 notices of default were filed on homes in the nine counties during the three months ended June 30, according to DataQuick, a La Jolla (San Diego County) real estate information firm."
